My thoughts on SOPA/PIPA

It occurred to me today with all of the SOPA/PIPA talk that even my site could be affected if these bills passed. All because of a well thought out post I made last May about fictional characters using social media in ingenious ways that actually benefit the entertainment industry. My post supported these shows and their efforts, but because of these bills, my site, Blogger, & Google could all end up with issues if someone had decided that I had infringed upon copyright.

I'm not much for voicing politics, but I am glad for all of the publicity surrounding this issue. I hope people are much more informed after today and less going along with the crowd just because it's easier to do so.

Still Alive and Kickin'

Today was the day. The anniversary of the day I was born. It has been a fairly calm and quiet day, but a good one, nonetheless.

My surprise for the day was from my co-workers, teammates, friends. They'd heard all about my new office and about how I had to find places where none had existed for my stuff and one of the things I was missing was a filing cabinet.

So that's what they got me! An actual filing cabinet. :D

And one of them made me her famous (to me only, probably) pistachio cake which I have asked for (and received on my birthday) for the last 5 years. I also got some snacky candy and folders for my cabinet.

It looks great in my office and I love it. ^_^

New year, new beginnings

Me and my peeps

This week is an ending for a chapter in my life - I end 10 years as a graphic designer. Next week is the beginning of another. It's also a new year both on the calendar and for me after my birthday on Thursday.

This post is a little awkward for me. I know, personal blogs are for personal blogging, and that what I'm going to write isn't something that shouldn't be written. I'm just not sure where, or how, or what to really write, what the words are for what I'm feeling. I just feel that I'm at the point where I'm ready to get it out.
